An exercise to reshuffle governors is underway in New Delhi. Decision makers have taken necessary clearance from the party leadership, say sources.

Maharashtra Governor Kateekal Sankaranarayanan, who was in hospital, is back, while the condition of Kerala governor MOH Farook, who is admitted to a hospital in Chennai, is now stable. Governor of Karnataka Hansraj Bharadwaj has been given additional charge of Kerala.

Insiders at North Block say that two governors might be transferred while no new induction is likely.

Two governors are likely to be given a five-year extension.
