Exactly 24 hours after he slipped in to a borewell, the story of two-year-old Dhravat Mahesh ended on a tragic note as the rescue team retrieved his body from a 30-foot-deep pit in Warangal.

Mahesh fell down in the borewell in Poelpally village under Tharur mandal of Warangal district at 5 pm on Sunday while playing.

His parents were working in the field at the time. As the news spread, the district administration swung into action to save the child. District collector N Sridhar and district superintendent of police Qasim Shahnawaz visited the spot to monitor the operation.

Thousands of people had gathered to see the rescue operations as officials tried to pump in the oxygen to save the boy's life. Video cameras were also used to ascertain the condition of the boy deep down the well.
