Former external affairs minister,Jaswant Singh said that he had never visualized such a sharp reaction to his book praising Mohammad Ali Jinnah." I have written over one hundred books but never ever have any of my books met with this kind of treatment," he told rediff.com in a conversation after after returning from Shimla.

When asked if party president Rajnath Singh was aware of him were writing this book and its contents, the former army officer said, " I had told everyone including Advani about writing this book and nobody said anything."

Jaswant Singh maintained that he never expected his book to cause such a furore. When asked why he was expelled without being given
a chance to explain his stand, Singh said,"This question should now be addressed to the party, which decided to expel me. I am a member of Parliament and have more then a hundred books to my credit and hence I would like to be remembered both as a parliamentarian and an author."

Although L K Advani had also made similar statements about Jinnah, the 'punishment' meted out to Singh has been harsher. "I am surprised that in India, books are being banned. It would have been good if I had been explained why so much commotion was created over the book. I regret that I have been expelled from the party. I would definitely meet former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and explain to him in detail what happened,"Jaswant Singh said.
