The CBI had registered a case against six accused including Col Kulbir Singh, staff officer to NDA commandant Lt Gen Jatinder Singh, for allegedly taking bribe for recruitment of subordinate staff in the academy, located at Khadakwasla near Pune.
The probing agency said a total cash of Rs 1.76 crore had been recovered from the accused during searches carried out in Mumbai, Pune, Gurgaon and Sonepat. All the accused were remanded to CBI custody till July 2.
The accused persons had allegedly taken signatures of those candidates, who had agreed to pay the bribe, on blank sheets and later filled them with correct answers through fraudulent means, he said.
The CBI also claimed to have seized a list of candidates' names and interview letters and a list of those who had paid bribe from residences of two of the accused.
In February, the NDA had invited applications to appoint 40 subordinate staff.
