The Haryana government on Thursday issued standing orders giving validity to computer-generated copies of revenue record.

The orders, signed by Agriculture and Revenue Minister Surender Singh, reached the officials a few hours after he died in a helicopter crash near Saharanpur, official sources said.

The orders designated all revenue tehsildars and naib tehsildars to authenticate computer-generated copies.

An official release quoting Singh stated that a decision to this effect had been taken because the state government wanted to facilitate the common man obtaining copies of revenue record.

The process of computerisation, which had started over a decade ago, did not achieve the primary objective of providing authenticated computer-generated copies of these documents, as there was no provision in the Haryana Land Revenue Manual to give validity to such copies, the release quoted him as saying.
