The Akhil Bharatiya Poorva Sainik Seva Parishad, an ex-servicemen’s organisation, has written an open letter to Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on the delay in implementing the One Rank, One Pension scheme.
‘The signals emanating from your ministry,’ the letter states, ‘compels us to believe that the government, or at least a section of it, is bent on breaching the trust of the 25 lakh ex-servicemen in India.’
‘The impact of this delay and the breach of trust will be felt in the 1.5 million active serving personnel of the Armed forces, as they will also become part of the ex-servicemen for eventually,’ the letter states, and adds that ‘it will be a sad day for the country if ex-servicemen have to resort to protests and hunger strikes to get what is their rightful due.’
