Tight security arrangements were made in Bhojpur district on Wednesday, with police in riot gear patrolling roads, as the shraddh ceremony of slain Ranvir Sena chief Brahmeshwar Singh alias 'Mukhiyaji' took place on the 13th day of his death at his native Khopira village.
The administration deployed 10 companies of anti-riot police force, one company of paramilitary force, three units of the Special Task Force, besides 600 armed policemen with 30 entry points set up, official sources said.
Video cameras were also put to use to record the identity of all those visiting Khopira, they said.
Forty-one cluster points were decided for deployment of security forces, while 15 security patrols made rounds.
Deputy Inspector General of Shahabad range Ajitabh Kumar himself supervised security measures in the district.
Meanwhile, three persons from Jehanabad district were held with three licenced pistols and 68 rounds of ammunition from a place under Shahar police station area in Bhojpur, Deputy Superintendent of Police Shivchandra Prasad said.
State Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Minister Giriraj Singh, PHED Minister Chandra Mohan Rai, Members of Parliament Meena Singh and Sushil Singh, besides about 100 legislators of various political parties were in attendance at the function, they said.
The chief's youngest son Indu Bhushan Singh performed the 'shraddh' rituals, attended by over 40,000 people.
Elaborate arrangements were made for the feast of visiting dignitaries and common people, with reporters from both print and electronic media covering the rituals.
The arrested people will be produced before a court on Thursday and sent to jail for violation of the provisions of prohibitory order, he said.
The Sena chief was shot dead by unidentified men in Katira locality under Nawada police station area in Bhojpur district on June 1.
