Flaying the Union government for the death of his devotee Rajbala who succumbed to her injuries suffered in the Ramlila ground lathi charge, yoga guru Ramdev on Tuesday pointedly blamed Union Home Minister P Chidambaram for it.

"Chidambaram is guilty of cold-blooded murder of the poor girl who received lathi blows while attending my camp at the Ramlila ground in New Delhi; he deserves to be tried for homicide and awarded death sentence," Ramdev told mediapersons in Lucknow.

He was speaking to mediapersons at the Lucknow airport during a brief stopover while returning to New Delhi from Unnao.

The yoga guru was in Unnao earlier in the day as a part of his Bharat Swabhiman Yatra on which he set out from Jhansi on September 20.

"My yatra is aimed at mobilising people to fight corruption and to build pressure on the government to retrieve India's billions parked as black money by our corrupt politicians, businessmen and others," he added. The yatra is proposed to cover Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Punjab.

Ramdev took a detour from his yatra to go over to Haryana to attend Rajbala's funeral on Tuesday.

Asked to comment on the 2 G scam, Ram Dev remarked, "is there any need for me to comment on that when finance minister Pranab Mukherjee had already thrown enough light on who was further responsible for it."
