Speaking to rediff.com Shalini Thackeray, general secretary, Chitrapat Karmachari Sena, confirmed the news. She however said that Sawant's association with the MNS is related to the film, theatre and the television industry.
She refused to comment if Sawant had any plans to join politics. "You can ask her if she has any future intention of joining the organisation," Thackeray said.
Sawant could not be reached despite repeated attempts.
Thackeray said that in recent times the MNS cine wing was in the forefront of solving bigger issues that affected the payments of spot boys, technicians and the issues of foreign workers getting precedence over Indian workers in Bollywood and the television industry.Sena won't ally with MNS, says Thackeray
