Rajya Sabha may sit till 8 pm from Tuesday

The Rajya Sabha is likely to work till 8 pm from Tuesday to discuss and dispose of the innumerable pending bills and other legislative business.

Consitutional amendments, replacement of ordinances is among the bills that await discussion in the Rajya Sabha.

Sources said an announcement on the longer working hours will be made on Tuesday after which a consensus of the members will be sought.

Sources said the chairman of the Upper House, Vice President Hamid Ansari, is keen to conduct business in the afternoon too.

Ansari has reportedly held a series of meetings with leaders of all political parties of the Rajya Sabha in this regard.
