Rains trigger flash flood in Himachal

Large tracts of land in Himachal Pradesh's Mandi district was washed away in flash floods which occurred due to a cloudburst even as several parts of the state received moderate to heavy rainfall on Friday.

The flash floods in Pandoh area washed a large tract of land but there was no loss of life, officials said.

Rains also triggered landslides due to which Mandi-Pathankot national highway was closed for nearly 10 hours.

Sujanpur Tira was wettest in the region with 63 mm rains, while Gohar received 57 mm rains, followed by Dalhousie and Kasauli at 28 mm each.

Elsewhere, Baldwara and Baijnath received 24 mm rainfall, followed by Tissa at 20 mm, Kufri 19 mm, Gaggal 15 mm, Banjar
14 mm and Solan 10 mm.

Una recorded a maximum temperature of 26.2 deg C, Bhunter 33.8 deg C, Sundernagar 33.1 deg C, Dharamshala 29.4 deg C.

The state capital Shimla recorded a high of 22.3 deg C.
