With rains in almost all parts of the country, the Indian Meteorological Department on Friday revised the drought possibility from 21 per cent to six per cent.

Out of 36 met subdivisions, only four subdivisions -- Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Kerala, Jammu and Kashmir and North Interior Karnataka -- were in the deficient category, according to an IMD report.

The remaining subdivisions received excess or normal rainfall, it said.

"As the first three met subdivisions were not drought affected, as such only North-Interior Karnataka can be said to remain drought affected where if the situation does not improve in the next two weeks serious drought conditions would prevail in that area for next few weeks," the report added.
