R Ashok to continue as K'taka home minister: Gowda

In a relief to Karnataka Home and Transport Minister R Ashok, who has been booked under the prevention of corruption act for his alleged denotification of lands in Lottegollahalli, Chief Minister Sadananda Gowda said that no action will be taken against him for now.
The Bharatiya Janata Party in Karnataka faced more embarrassment following the arrest of former Karnataka chief minister BS Yeddyurappa after first information report was filed in against Ashok in connection with the denotification case. The CM, who met with the central
leadership on Sunday, said that there was no question of asking him to step down now. "We will fight the issue legally and decide what course of action to take. The Lokayukta police are yet to file a report and based on those contents action will be taken," he said.
Meanwhile, the Lokayukta police have initiated investigation against Ashok and started collecting documents from various departments. They will file a report before the court on November 5. A chargesheet against Ashok is = expected to be filed within three months.
