President Kalam to visit quake-affected J&K

President A P J Abdul Kalam would be visiting earthquake-affected areas of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday and Friday. Kalam would leave for Kashmir on Thursday morning and return to New Delhi on Friday evening.
 
According to press secretary S M Khan, the President will interact with earthquake-affected people of Tangdhar, Uri and Urusa during his visit.

The President would take off for Srinagar on Thursday morning and would be received by Governor Lieutenant General(retired) S K Sinha and Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad.
 
Army chief General J J Singh would be present at the airport when the President lands in Srinagar and at a briefing held by the state government, giving details of the relief and rehabilitation work in the state. Subsequently, Kalam and his entourage will leave for Tangdhar, worst-affected area in north Kashmir. 
 
'The villagers of Tithwal will also meet President Kalam at Tangdhar on Thursday', said a press note issued by the Rashrapati Bhavan communique. He would spend night at the Raj Bhavan, where Governor Sinha would host a dinner in his honour.
 
Next morning President Kalam would fly to Uri and Urusa and visit a school damaged during the earthquake and interact with the children. 'He will visit an orphanage. The President will also address Army jawans at Tangdhar and will visit injured armymen in a hospital in Srinagar', the press note said.
