A large python -- weighing nearly 85 kg and 15 feet long, was caught from the high-security official residence of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, situated on the Shyamla Hills.

The python was caught on Monday by a snake-catcher, Salim Bhai, from Chouhan's residence, official sources said.

Salim Bhai, whose name immediately comes on the lips of the people of Bhopal the moment they spot any snake in the state capital claimed that he has caught thousands of snakes from the Chief Minister's residence, Raj Bhawan and Vidhan Sabha which are surrounded by rich green cover.

The security personnel noticed the python on the rear side of the CM's residence following which Salim Bhai was immediately called to catch the snake which had by then killed a dog.

Salim Bhai then caught the python in a swift action and later took it to neighbouring Van Vihar National Park where it was left in snake's enclosure.

Later, he also caught a 'Ghoda Pachad' snake from the same premises.

He said that the area from where the python was caught is an ideal habitat for snakes as the area is rocky with rich green cover.
