"Akali Jathedars are running police stations making the life of common man miserable in the state," he told mediapersons after meeting the family members of the ASI who was recently gunned down allegedly by an Akali Dal leader in the city.
"Akalis will face the music one day. If they think they are using the goondas to create terror it will fire back," the Punjab Congress chief said.
He also addressed a gathering of Congress workers in city's Rialto Chowk where the party organised a sit-in to protest what it said deterioration of law and order in the state.
Amarinder said they would organise state-wide sit-ins to protest 'high-handedness of the Akalis and worsening law and order in the state'. "There is no rule of law and President's rule should be imposed in the state," he said.
Punjab is also on the decline economically and socially, making it a fit case for bringing it under the Central rule, Amarinder said.
Earlier, he assured the family of the slain ASI that the Congress party would stand by them like a rock in their hour of crisis. Amarinder said the case should be fast-tracked and perpetrators of the crime should be brought to book at the earliest.Rift within NDA; Akalis want to listen to PM
