The professor of a government college in Srinagar was arrested by the Jammu and Kashmir police on Friday evening for setting a question paper 'with anti-India content'.
The lecturer, Noor Mohammad Bhat, who teaches English in Gandhi Memorial College was picked up by the police after the authorities learnt about the contents of the paper which the lecturer had set for first-year students.
The college teacher was picked up by the police from his downtown residence on Friday evening. He has been booked under the 'Unlawful Activities Act' according to a senior police officer.
A team of investigators is probing the incident.
The professor had set up questions like 'stone-pelters are real heroes. Discuss'.
A text which the students had to translate read, "Kashmir is burning yet again. The blood of the youth is being shed like water. Even young boys are not being spared and are beaten to death. Bullets are being pumped into the chests of young girls and women."
A senior police officer said that they had to detain the professor to ensure that 'separatist politics doesn't become part and parcel of the educational curriculum'.
