Sonia Gandhi has made her daughter Priyanka Gandhi a trustee of the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation.

Political insiders believe that Sonia's decision indicates that Priyanka will be inducted into politics within a year or so.

The website of the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation mentions Priyanka as a teacher and an educationist. Priyanka also makes time to visit the foundation's office every weekday.

Following in the footsteps of her mother, Priyanka is also taking a keen interest in social issues, visiting remote villages, coordinating political assignments in the parliamentary constituencies of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.

In the mid 1990s, Sonia Gandhi was a regular visitor to the office of the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation, where she spent many hours coordinating various events like international seminars, workshops and programmes in rural areas
