Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Tuesday arrived in Dhaka on a two-day visit aimed at further strengthening India's relations with Bangladesh.
Singh, his wife Gursharan Singh and a high-level delegation were accorded red-carpet welcome when their special aircraft landed at the Shahjalal International Airport. Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina received Singh at the airport.
Singh will go straight to the National Memorial at suburban Savar to pay tributes to the martyrs of Bangladesh's 1971 Liberation War.
During his visit, India and Bangladesh are expected to put bilateral ties in a new trajectory through signing of deals in a range of sectors including extradition of sentenced persons, connectivity, power, exchange of enclaves and border management.
