Pratibha Patil, the United Progressive Alliance nominee for the post of President of India, on Saturday said she will resign as Rajasthan Governor before she files her nomination.

Addressing a press conference at Jodhpur Bhavan in New Delhi, Patil said a decision will be taken tonight on when she would file her nomination.

Patil also said she would meet Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, who is likely to be her opponent as an independent backed by the National Democratic Alliance in the July 19 election.

Before filing the nomination she would pay obeisance to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.
