Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee was on Sunday roughed up in front of the Congress office in Kolkata by a group of party men disgruntled over nomination for the Kolkata civic polls.
Mukherjee had arrived at the party office to hold a meeting to announce the nomination of candidates for the polls to the 141-member civic body slated on June 19 when he was mobbed by a group of Congressmen protesting against the nomination of a candidate in a particular ward in Central Kolkata.
The meeting, slated for 1300 hours, could not commence on time and was delayed by over half an hour.
