Pradeep Kumar appointed new Defence Secretary

The government on Tuesday appointed Pradeep Kumar, currently the secretary in the department of Defence Production, as the Defence Secretary.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Kumar as Defence Secretary, an official release said in New Delhi.
A 1972-batch officer of Haryana cadre, Kumar will succeed Vijay Singh, who is due to retire on July 31, it said, adding Kumar will have a tenure of two years from the date of taking over the post.
Raj Kumar Singh, a 1975-batch officer of Bihar cadre, will be the next Secretary in the Department of Defence Production.
