The policemen who were deployed in and around Tihar Jail, where Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru was hanged on Saturday morning, had no idea why they were on duty there.
"We were given orders to secure Tihar," said one of the policeman manning the entry point of jail no. 3. He added that they were not told why they were being asked to secure the prison premises.
The road leading to Tihar Jail had been heavily barricaded and all vehicles going that way were screened.
"A Maulavi was present throughout with the magistrate while Guru was lead to the gallows," revealed the official.
He added that no member of Guru’s family was present.
