A policeman and a civilian were killed and two others injured in a militant attack in north Kashmir's Sopore town on Friday.
The militants opened fire at a police party in the main chowk of the town today afternoon, according to the police.
"One policeman and a civilian died in the firing while two other civilians, including a woman, were injured. They were taken to the local hospital for treatment," a senior police officer said.
Security forces manning bunkers in the area returned the fire.
The area was immediately cordoned off and security forces are searching the area. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Further details are awaited.
