A police team arrived at the residence of Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen Member of Legislative Assembly Akbaruddin Owaisi in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, on Tuesday. Even as they wait for official confirmation on Owaisi's health, the doctors examining him have now found a few issues.

Sources say that there is a bullet lodged in his thigh, and has a problem with the sciatic nerve (sciatic nerve is the longest and widest single nerve in the human body going from the top of the leg to the foot on the posterior aspect).

They have also found that he suffers from hernia. All these problems had emerged after May, 2011, when four persons shot at him over a property dispute. However, the doctors have not yet made the report public yet.

Owaisi has been in the eye of a storm since he allegedly made a communally provocative speech.Owaisi, who returned from London on Monday, was supposed to appear at the local police station for questioning. But he claimed that he was unwell.

After his return from London on Tuesday, Owaisi had visited a private hospital for a medical check-up. He had then sought some time from the police before he was questioned.

Heavy security arrangements have been made outside Owaisi's residence. There has been a vociferous demand for Owaisi's arrest after his allegedly provocative speech at a public rally. He was subsequently booked for inciting communal tension and waging war against the State.

When he was summoned for questioning by the police, Owaisi sent his lawyer to the police station, claiming that he was not well and would need nearly four days to recuperate.

Police sources say that Owaisi would be arrested and sent for treatment, and he will not be allowed to go home. "The cases against him are non-bailable, and he cannot walk around scot-free. He will be treated by government doctors under the watch of the police," said a source.
