Nearly a month after a three-year-old baby girl was allegedly stolen by an unidentified man when she was sleeping with her family at the Chhattrapati Shivaji Terminus in Mumbai, the Railway Police on Friday released a photograph and CCTV footage to track down the culprit.
According to the police, the accused came to the railway station on June 10 at around 2 am and took away the baby girl sleeping with her parents, who are contract labourers hailing from Vidharbha region.
The footage showed a limping man alighting a train and wandering around the station before spotting a family with a sleeping baby. He then sat besides her and took her away.
Police's efforts to nail the accused failed after which they decided to release photograph and CCTV footage, seeking help of the public, who can contact 022-22620173 in case the accused is spotted.
The girl's parents used to clean the railway tracks, said the police. They were scheduled to board a train in the night but missed it, following which they decided to sleep at the railway station and catch the next train.
