Putin to remind Musharraf of promise

Russian President Vladimir Putin will remind Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf of his promise to end cross-border terrorism against India when the two will meet on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York

Musharraf had promised the Russian president during his visit to Almaty in May 2002 and Moscow in February to stop terrorism against India.

Putin is also scheduled to meet Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee where the issue of terrorism will top their agenda, the Kremlin said on Tuesday.

The Russian president is leaving Tuesday for the 5-day US visit during which he will also address the UNGA on Thursday and hold informal summit with the US president George W Bush at Camp David on September 26 and 27.

During his 25-minute address to the UNGA, Putin is to voice Russian stand on resolving regional conflicts, anti-terror combat, nuclear non-proliferation and role of the UN in the international process.
