16 killed in plane crash in Venezuela

Sixteen people were killed when a military plane crashed in the mountains near Caracas in Venezuela on Friday.

The dead included the inspector general of the National Guard, General Rafael Dubron Torres, and Brigadier General
Jose Blondet Serfati.

A blast was heard in the area seconds before the plane crashed.

The plane, a twin-engine M-28 Skytruck, was on its way from Puerto Ayacucho to a military air base just east of the capital.
