Ahead of the glittering swearing-in ceremony, three ministers made headlines as they pedalled to Rashtrapati Bhavan.
New minister Arjun Ram Meghwal took a bicycle to Rashtrapati Bhavan and was chased by a small crowd including security men, reported NDTV. In fact, Meghwal, known as the cycling MP, also rides to Parliament on his cycle. Additionally, he used a cycle to get to work when Delhi implemented its famous odd-even traffic scheme.
Another minister-to-be, Mansukhbhai Mandavia, also opted to take his cycle to the oath ceremony. “I have been using the cycle for the past three years,” Mandavia said before setting off.
Anil Dave, a Rajya Sabha MP from Madhya Pradesh, is the third cyclist MP. He has actively campaigned for cleaning and saving the Narmada River.
