Pakistani flags raised again in J-K, protesters clash with cops

Violence once again erupted in the Kashmir Valley when a group of people began to wave Pakistan and terror group Lashkar-e-Tayiba flags.

Protests erupted and the youth clashed after Friday prayers in the old city Jamia Masjid area.

Supporters of Hurriyat chairman Mirwaiz Umer Farooq were angry after he was placed under house arrest on Wednesday in an attempt to foil his march to Eidgah grounds on Thursday to commemorate the death anniversary of his father Mirwaiz Mohammad Farooq and separatist leader Abdul Gani Lone. Terrorists had shot dead Lone on May 21, 2002 during a commemoration rally for Moulvi Mohammad Farooq.

Scores of people, mostly youth took to streets in the Nowhatta area of the old city were the mosque is located and waved Pakistan and LeT flags and chanted anti-India slogans.

They also indulged in stone pelting on the police and paramilitary, central reserve police force troops.

The security forces responded by firing teargas and lathi charged the protesters to disperse the crowd and bring the situation under control.
