Eleven killed in Philippines bombings

Eleven people were killed in three bombings in the Philippines on Monday, according to reports.

Three people were killed and about 20 injured when a bomb ripped through a bus in the Makati financial district of Manila, Metropolitan Manila police chief Avelino Razon said.

Five people were killed when a blast hit a bus depot in the southern city of Davao at dusk, Social Welfare Secretary Corazon Soliman said.

Three more were killed and 33 injured when a bomb struck a shopping mall on the southern city of General Santos at about the same time as the Davao bombing, she said over DZBB radio.

The Abu Sayyaf, a militant group listed by the US state department as a 'foreign terrorist organisation', claimed the attacks.
