Peace Party chief attacked in Faizabad

The President of Peace Party, Dr M Ayub, was on Tuesday night attacked by unidentified assailants. The attackers, who followed Dr Ayub's car for several kilometers, tried to force his car down the Saryu river bridge near Faizabad.

Dr Ayub and his security guards were badly injured in the incident, with Dr Ayub suffering fractures to his legs. Dr Ayub was taken to the district hospital in Faizabad and later transferred to Gorakhpur hospital. A first information report has been lodged against unknown attackers in Faizabad Kotwali.

The Peace party has demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation enquiry into the assassination bid against its leader.
