In a dramatic twist, the Patna police on Tuesday arrested a prominent Patna-based builder Anil Kumar Sharma for 'falsely' framing Janata Dal (U) MLA Anant Singh in the mysterious murder case of Reshma.

The police also claimed that it had solved the Reshma murder case and gave a clean chit to Singh.

DIG (Patna) Sunil Kumar said builder Anil Kumar Sharma was arrested for his involvement in the Reshma murder case.
"Sharma is the main accused in the murder case as it was he who plotted to falsely frame Singh in the case," Sunil Kumar said.

The police said Reshma was actually Kazal.

"There was no one called Reshma. It was Kazal who was murdered to frame criminal case against Anant Singh," police sources said.

Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar recommended a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the Reshma murder case after hue and cry was made over the alleged involvement of Singh.

Last week, Sharma accused that Singh had threatened him of dire consequences if extortion amount is not paid to him immediately.

Anant Singh was recently in the news for assaulting scribes, who had gone to his Mall Road residence in Patna on November 1.
