The stalemate in Parliament over coal block allocations entered its tenth day on Tuesday as the Bharatiya Janata Party persisted with its demand for the resignation of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned till noon after the Opposition triggered ruckus on the issue. Members of the Dravida Munnettra Kazhagam, All India Anna Dravida Munnettra Kazhagam, Communist Party of India and Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi were in the Well raising the Sri Lanka issue.

DMK members were opposing the training of Sri Lankan armed forces at an airbase in India, while AIADMK and VCK members were protesting the planned visit of Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa to Madhya Pradesh.

Sensing the belligerent mood of the members, Speaker Meira Kumar adjourned the Lok Sabha till noon.

Rajya Sabha witnessed uproarious scenes soon after Chairman Hamid Ansari condoled the death of former member Bira Kesari Deo.

BJP members shouted slogans demanding the resignation of the prime minister, while DMK members raised the issue of Sri Lanka defence personnel being trained in India.

Ansari urged members to sit down and let the Question Hour be taken up, but they remained unrelenting.

The Chairman first stopped live telecast of the proceedings on television and soon after adjourned the House till noon.
