The first session of the 14th Lok Sabha will begin on June 2 and President A P J Abdul Kalam will address a joint session of Parliament on June 7.
The decision to convene the nine-day session was taken on Sunday at the first meeting of the Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
The newly elected members of the Lok Sabha will take oath on June 2 and 3 while the election of speaker is scheduled for June 4, Union minister Ram Vilas Paswan said after the meeting.
The MPs will discuss Kalam's address from June 7 to June 9, Paswan said. The motion of thanks to the President's address is scheduled for passage on June 10.
On the suspense over allocation of portfolio, Union minister P M Sayeed said it is likely to be announced either on Sunday night or Monday.
