“Ceasefire violation in Mendhar sector on October 1. Pakistan army used small arms and automatics to target our positions. Own troops retaliated. No damage reported,” Defence Spokesman S N Acharya said.
The latest ceasefire violation came two days after the prime ministers of the two countries met in New York on Sunday.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh agreed to task the directors general of military operations of the two armies to ensure the ceasefire on the LoC.
The two countries had agreed to a bilateral ceasefire on the LoC and international border in November 2003.
