The Indian army on Tuesday said that Pakistan army has refused a flag meeting after its troops violated the bilateral ceasefire in north Kashmir last month.
Major General Bipin Rawat of the GOC 19 Mountain Division told reporters on the sidelines of a sports event in north Kashmir Baramulla on Tuesday, "Pakistan authorities have refused a flag meeting requested by us after its troops violated ceasefire in Uri sector of Line of Control last month."
Rawat said that Pakistan army had even denied having made any ceasefire violation on the LoC.
"They have violated the ceasefire even on Tuesday in Uri sector. The aim of the ceasefire violation is to infiltrate terrorists into our side before a major snowfall occurs on the LoC."
"Some snowfall has already occurred along the LoC," he said. Three civilians were killed in the Churanda village near the LoC in the Uri sector of Baramulla district on October 19 when Pakistani troops resorted to heavy mortar shelling in the area.
The bilateral ceasefire agreed by the two south Asian nuclear neighbours had come into force in November 2003, bringing in relief to thousands of families living on either side of the LoC and the international border.
