Pakistani troops violated the bilateral ceasefire on the international border near Jammu on Saturday morning targeting Border Security Force troops, according to a senior BSF officer.
“Pakistani troops fired at our party which was carrying out maintenance work in the Arnia sector near Jammu this morning,” the officer said, adding the Pakistani troops fired using small arms.
“There was no damage on our side,” he added.
Pakistani troops have violated the bilateral ceasefire on Line of Control several times this year. The two countries had agreed to a bilateral ceasefire in November 2003, which held nicely for several years.
Meanwhile, Indian Army chief General Bikram Singh along with Lt General DS Hooda, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command and Lt General, Subrata Saha called on Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and discussed matters relating to the prevailing security situation in the state.
