Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and his Pakistani counterpart Rehman Malik have pledged to take more steps to improve bilateral relations.

The two leaders, who are in Maldives to attend the South Asian Association For Regional Cooperation home/interior ministers' meeting, met on Tuesday evening and discussed a wide range of issues.

After the talks, the two ministers said they have invited each other to visit the respective countries in the near future.

Malik also extended an invitation to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to visit Pakistan and offer prayers at Nankana Sahib, the birth place of Guru Nanak.

Talking to reporters, Malik said he is looking for good relations with India in future.

Shinde said Malik had called him within three hours of his assuming the post of home minister and he saw this as a good sign to improve bilateral relations.
