Pakistan's Election Commission on Monday issued the final list of five candidates for the October 6 presidential poll. The candidates include President Pervez Musharraf, Mohammedmian Soomro, Wajihuddin Ahmed, Makhdoom Mohammad Amin Faheem and Faryal Talpur.

Speaker of the National Assembly Amir Hussain, who had filed nomination as a covering candidate for President Musharraf, withdrew his papers before the deadline of 12 noon.

However, Mohammedmian Soomro, the chairman of Senate and a covering candidate for Musharraf, did not withdraw his papers as experts say Musharraf is still facing a legal battle in his re-election bid.

Wajihuddin Ahmed, a former Supreme Court judge, has been fielded by the lawyers' community which is vehemently opposing Musharraf's re-election bid.

Makhdoom Mohammad Amin Faheem is the candidate from Brnazir Bhutto's Pakistan Peoples Party while Faryal Talpur is the covering candidate for Faheem.
