India, Pak fix dates for talks

Pakistan on Tuesday said it has accepted dates proposed by India for Foreign Secretary-level talks and expert-level parleys on nuclear Confidence Building Measures later in June.

"The government of India on Tuesday proposed June 19-20 for the expert-level talks on nuclear CBMs and June 27-28 for Foreign Secretary-level talks. Pakistan has accepted these dates," a Foreign office statement in Islamabad said.

The nuclear talks were earlier scheduled for May 25-26 but were postponed due to the change in government in India.

External Affairs Minister K Natwar Singh had earlier announced the dates for the much awaited Foreign Secretary-level talks and expert-level parleys on Nuclear Confidence Building Measures in Delhi, declaring that the Manmohan Singh government favoured continuation of the peace process with Pakistan. He also said that future Indo-Pak talks should be based on trust and not mistrust.
