Briefing newspersons at the end of a daylong meeting of the Federal Council and Executive Council of PPP in London Sunday evening, spokesman Farhatullah Babar said "the party demands that General Musharraf should ensure the return of Miss Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif with dignity and full protection."
It also pressed for the release of several political detainees, including Javed Hashmi and Makhdoom Syed Raza Gilani as a "first step".
The meeting, presided over by Bhutto herself, also discussed several issues including law and order, political and economic situation in Pakistan and relief works undertaken in the earthquake-hit areas in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
The meeting expressed the view that it was against the procurement of new defence equipment and shifting of government head offices and demanded that this amount be spent on reconstruction and rehabilitation in quake-hit areas.
Bhutto arrived in London on Saturday from Geneva where she had appeared before a court on Friday in connection with a money laundering case.
Former chief minister of Punjab and Pakistan Muslim League (N) President Shahbaz Sharif is already in London. Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is expected in London to see his son Hassan Nawaz, who is undergoing treatment for an illness described as "genuinely serious" by doctors.
According to the spokesman, the meeting was of the view that the government had failed to maintain law and order and protect women and children. The meeting also expressed reservation over the appointment of Major General Farouq Khan as a Relief Commissioner and said the collection and spending of relief funds should be "transparent".
The party wanted a committee to be formed to probe into the affairs of Oil and Gas Development Corporation.
