Not shy about Kashmir: Sinha

July 09, 2003 19:27 IST

India on Wednesday asserted it will not shy away from the Kashmir issue, saying Pakistan should 'emulate' the Sino-Indian model of not allowing one single issue to hold 'hostage' progress in all other issues.

External Affairs Minister Yashwant Sinha, however, ruled out an early Indo-Pak summit meeting saying a 'step-by-step approach' towards dialogue needs to be worked out first.

"We should first talk about the talks -- how these will begin and what will be the agenda," he said.

Responding to Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf's suggestion that India should show 'flexibility' as it had done in the case of Tibet, Sinha said he did not know what flexibility the general was referring to.
