A Border Security Force trooper was killed in unprovoked Pakistani fire in the Ranbir Singh Pora area of Jammu region.

Police sources in Srinagar said Pakistani troops resorted to heavy firing at a BSF post guarding the area resulting in the death of a trooper.

"The firing is still going on. One BSF trooper was killed," said a senior police officer.

This is first violation of the bilateral ceasefire between the two nuclear-armed neighbours in the area this year, according to sources.
