The Maharashtra government on Monday said Pakistan-based terrorists were training women as 'fidayeen' attackers, possibly to strike important cities including Mumbai and Pune.
In a written reply in the state assembly to Yogesh Sagar (Bharatiya Janata Party), Maharashtra Home Minister R R Patil said that as per intelligence inputs on January 12 this year, Pakistan-based terrorists have been training women, possibly for terror strikes in Mumbai and Pune.
He said police authorities, civic and railways have been alerted. The police have been asked to gather information and a standard operating procedure has been prepared to tackle the possible threat, he said.
