US President Barack Obama's Special Envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan Richard Holbrooke has said that the US would be releasing $200 million for Pakistan under the Coalition Support Fund soon.
During his meeting with Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani in Islamabad, Holbrooke assured that the Obama administration would continue to help Islamabad to overcome the current turbulent situation.
During the meeting it was agreed that both sides would work out the modalities for the release of the $200 million fund to Pakistan.
Sources privy to the meeting said Gilani told Holbrooke that the delay in the payment by the US was adversely the capacity and capabilities of the Pakistani armed forces in the war against terror.
Gilani told Holbrooke that reconstruction and development of areas claimed back the military was important to win the hearts and minds of the people, who were displaced due to the military offensive, and to achieve the desired results in the war against extremism.
