Pak terror camps a threat to India: Antony

Union Defence Minister A K Antony on Tuesday reiterated that the terror camps located in Pakistan, which are close to the Indian border, pose a threat to the nation's security.

Antony's statement came close on the heels of the statement by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, who warned chief ministers from across India on Monday that Pakistan based terror outfits are planning further attacks in India.

Reacting strongly to the statement, the Pakistan government said that the statement was uncalled for and summoned the Indian envoy to express its displeasure.

Intelligence agencies have already warned the top police officials of various states about the possibility of such outfits planning terror strikes in India.

According to sources, the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad have become one of the main centres of the clandestine planning and operations carried out by the sleeper cells of the Lashkar-e-Tayiba and the Hizbul Mujahideen in India.

A senior officer of the Kerala police admitted that the state had received a warning about a possible terror attack, but added that it could be a routine message.

He asserted that the state police is not leaving any stone unturned and the necessary precautions are being taken at all levels by the police and intelligence agencies.
