The Pakistan Army said on Monday it had registered a "strong protest" with India over what it described as unprovoked firing by Indian troops along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir.

The protest came days before foreign secretary-level talks between the two countries in New Delhi on February 25. "Indian troops resorted to unprovoked firing on the Line of Control in Battal sector on the night of February 13-14, 2010," said a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations, the Pakistani military's

media wing.

"Pakistan has lodged a strong protest with Indian authorities for the ceasefire violation on Line of Control and has demanded a flag meeting of local commanders. But flag meeting has not been held so far," the statement said. In recent months, India and Pakistan have accused each other of several violations of the truce that was put in place along the LoC in late 2003.
