Four men accused of involvement in the botched Times Square bombing carried out by Pakistani- American terrorist Faisal Shahzad in 2010 have been acquitted by a Rawalpindi court as the prosecution failed to prove its case against them.
The anti-terrorism court in the Pakistani garrison city on Saturday acquitted Muhammad Shoaib Mughal, Muhammad Shahid Hussain, Humbal Akhtar and Faisal Abbasi.
The men, who were arrested in Pakistan following the New York City incident, were acquitted by the court on the grounds that the prosecution failed to prove its case against them.
Shahzad has already pleaded guilty in a United States court to trying to blow up a bomb in his SUV in Times Square in New York. The bomb had failed to detonate.
American officials have said Shahzad was trained for the attack by the Pakistani Taliban.
Two other men arrested in Pakistan in the aftermath of the incident have been released earlier.
