Against the backdrop of the killing of Al Qeada leader Osama bin Laden and the situation in Pakistan, Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh on Monday took stock of the country's overall security scenario with the military top brass.

The 90-minute security review at the PM's residence was attended by Defence Minister A K Antony, National Security Adviser Shiv Shankar Menon, the three service chiefs, Defence Secretary Pradeep Kumar and Defence Research and Development Organisation Chief V K Saraswat.

"The prime minister was briefed on the overall security measures and the general preparedness of the defence forces. Issues like changing security situation in Pakistan and the situation along the Sino-Indian border were discussed," defence ministry officials said here.

Last Wednesday, the defence minister had also reviewed the measures taken by security forces in view of the situation in the neighbourhood. He was briefed on the coastal security measures taken by maritime security agencies.

Bin Laden was killed in a covert United States operation on May 2 in Abbottabad near Islamabad.
